Can you imagine telling me where you are with life and what that's like for you? Qualities I bring into the therapy room include curiosity, kindness, humour and respect. Trained in integrative psychotherapy, I apply different theoretical models to the way that I think and work. This includes how we can safely guide the sometimes conflicting parts of your inner-world into an integrated, harmonious whole.

FROM THE GROUND UP

Counselling & Psychotherapy in London

Healing can sometimes feel a bit upside-down, especially when questioning whether we are even worthy of the change we seek. Many difficulties stem not from negative feelings themselves, but rather our resistance to allowing or accepting the fact we have them at all. For example, you might feel that to be angry is ‘bad’; to be sad is ‘weak’. This way of being probably acted as a protector during difficult times in early life. Reconnecting with these disowned parts of yourself can feel scary at first, yet will become a key component of growth in your therapeutic journey. Issues I have experience working with include:

  • Abuse

  • Addiction

  • Anger

  • Assault

  • Anxiety

  • Avoidance

  • Bereavement

  • Criminality

  • Depression

  • Discrimination

  • Domestic Violence

  • Eating Issues

  • Existential Crisis

  • Exploitation

  • Fatherhood

  • Gender Identity

  • Ill Health

  • Isolation

  • Life-on-street aka 'Gangs'

  • Motherhood

  • Migration

  • Parenthood

  • Relationships

  • Sex & Sexuality

  • Sex-work

  • Shame

  • Stress

RELATIONSHIPS

Happy Relationships

Whether family, partners, friends or communities, sometimes relationships can be wonderful. They can also be challenging or even damaging for us. The therapeutic relationship can be a safe space to explore how these experiences impact your life, and to 'test' potentially new or healthier ways of being in relationship. This approach is at the core of my practice and is the root of growth, healing and awareness.

INDIVIDUALITY & BEING IN THE WORLD

Happy people and communities

Being in the world, faced daily with freedom, choice and responsibility can be confusing and overwhelming. We can feel uncertain, isolated and frightened and may turn to destructive, harmful or addictive behaviours to cope. I may invite you to be curious and find the courage to ask: "where am I, and what are my true needs?"

THE BODY

Feeling good in the body

Ever felt like you are viewing life through a camera lens? Is the real world a dull substitute for your imagination? Does thinking exhaust you? Or perhaps you just feel numb. If so, you may have lost contact with your body and the vast emotional world it contains. The unique therapeutic connection can gently guide you back to this ever-present experience. This can be initially unnerving, but is far from dull.

Supervision

I am currently undertaking the Diploma in Integrative Supervision at the Minster Centre (accredited by UKCP). While completing this training, I’m offering low-cost relational-embodied supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists — both in training and post-qualification — as well as those in pastoral or support roles (e.g. teachers, social workers, youth workers, probation officers). Sessions are available online or in person in Abbey Wood, SE2.

My approach to supervision is reflective and integrative, grounded in curiosity, compassion, humour, and ethical rigour. I aim to co-create a space that deepens insight, supports growth, and holds both therapist and client with care amid the complexities of clinical life. Informed by my MA research, I hold a particular interest in how therapists/practitioners integrate their professional and personal selves.

Fees (Introductory — fixed until January 2027)

Individual Supervision (50 minutes)

• Trainees – £30

• Qualified practitioners – £40

Group Supervision (2 hours, 3–4 participants)

• Trainees – £25 each

• Qualified practitioners – £35 each

If you’d like to arrange an initial meeting or find out more, please get in touch. We can explore whether the space between us feels right, and how supervision might best serve your practice and your clients.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

£85 - £125 per 50 minute session, depending on income.

Some low cost slots available, please let me know what you can afford. I encourage those with wealth privilege to pay it forward so there is equity in the service.
Individuals only
No couples, families or groups.

Payments via bank transfer.

From the Ground Up

OLIVER O'DONOHOE

I have lived in SE London since 2006 and worked in Soho until graduating in Commercial Music (1st Class BA Hons) at the University of Westminster in 2013. After a brief stint in the music industry, I trained as a frontline sexual health professional and youth worker.

Oliver O'Donohoe, Counsellor MBACP, Addiction and Relationships Specialist

I have clinical experience with adult women and men (cis and trans) and non-binary persons from a range of ethnic, cultural and class backgrounds, sexual identities, and learning needs.

For 10 years I delivered group and 121 sessions in schools and youth clubs as a Young Person's (11-18 years) Relationships, Sex and Identity Mentor in SW London. I can also train other professionals on working with young people.

While acknowledging the value of work and qualifications, I believe, where appropriate, in the reparative power of drawing upon my own personal recovery experience to help inform my therapeutic approach.

I enjoy playing my drum kit, swimming, and slow walks in nature.
